Laura Ahlbeck, Oboe

Laura Ahlbeck is principal oboe of the American Symphony Orchestra, the Bard Festival Orchestra, the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, and the Boston Lyric Opera. From 1984 to 1990 she was a member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. She performs frequently with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and is a founding member of the Walden Chamber Players. Ms. Ahlbeck has also been a member of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra Sinfónica de Maracaibo. She is currently the chair of the woodwind department at the New England Conservatory of Music, and teaches at Bard College, Boston University, and Boston Conservatory. Recent concerto appearances include the Strauss Oboe Concerto with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall.
